Mary Jane Irwin of IGN criticized the game for its annoying combat system, "uninteresting" story, and lack of challenge in boss battles. Samurai Jack: The Shadow of Aku received mixed reviews from critics. Other bosses include Mad Jack and the Scotsman.
The game ends in a final battle with Jack's nemesis, Aku.
The player can also fill Jack's " Zen meter", which allows him to enter a special slow-motion attack mode called "Sakai mode", among other things. Jack's move set contains 25 moves and combo attacks, and his weapons include three elemental swords, shurikens, and a bow and arrow. The player takes control of Jack, the series' protagonist and main character, as he rescues villagers, battles Aku's minions, and ultimately searches for the time portal to take him back to his own time. The game features an original story interconnected throughout 18 levels in 4 areas (Village: 5 levels, Forest: 4 levels, Underground: 4 levels, and Aku City: 5 levels). With Shadow of Aku being unreleased on the Xbox, the next licensed Samurai Jack game, Battle Through Time, was released on August 21, 2020, becoming the first Samurai Jack game available on Microsoft platforms. It received "mixed" reviews according to the review aggregation website Metacritic. An Xbox version of the game was planned, but never released, even though it was included on the official Xbox 360 Backwards Compatibility list. The game was released for the PlayStation 2 and GameCube. The series' original voice actors, including Phil LaMarr, Mako Iwamatsu, Jeff Bennett, John DiMaggio, and Jennifer Hale, reprised their respective roles for the game. The first batch of games slated for download December 4 include Halo: Combat Evolved, Fable, Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge, Indigo Prophecy, Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of Cortex, Psychonauts, and Burnout 3: Takedown.Samurai Jack: The Shadow of Aku is an action-adventure video game released in 2004 by Adrenium Games and published by Sega and based on the Samurai Jack animated television series on Cartoon Network. While there's no word yet of other enhancements the fall update will feature, you can see a list of the first round of games appearing on Microsoft's new service after the jump. As of right now, there's no word on the average size of these games so we're left wondering exactly how much space we're going to need to free up and whether or not buying these older games used is a better option (you can still find most of these games for under $15 used). Starting December 4, Xbox 360 owners will have the option of shelling out 1,200 MS points (that's $15) for each game they'd like to download to their hard drive.
Sounds like owners of the 20GB may want to consider upgrading. Microsoft has announced that the next dashboard update for the Xbox 360 will add the ability to download original Xbox games to your hard drive.
